Hyperscaler No. 2 case study

The context

As Hyperscaler No. 2 expanded its data center footprint, their infrastructure requirements became increasingly complex. New deployment models emerged, design standards evolved and project schedules continued to accelerate. The hyperscaler needed more than a manufacturer. It needed a partner capable of anticipating and solving problems, improving designs and adapting alongside programs that were constantly evolving.

The challenge

Many infrastructure providers deliver products exactly as specified. This hyperscaler needed a partner willing identify opportunities for improvement and adapt designs as requirements changed. The company was developing new types of environments, refining infrastructure standards and working under schedules that left little room for delay. Success depended on partners who could move as quickly as the projects themselves while considering how infrastructure would be installed, maintained and used in the field.

The solution

The relationship began with a project in 2019, when Hyperscaler No. 2 chose to work with us based on trusted relationships developed over years of collaboration. What started as support for containment solutions gradually expanded the customer came to rely on our ability to adapt to changing requirements and improve infrastructure designs based on their unique operating environments.

Rather than simply manufacturing to specification, we worked directly with the hyperscaler's engineers, construction teams and design partners to identify opportunities for improvement throughout the deployment process. The team regularly evaluated how solutions would be installed, maintained and used in real-world environments, helping the hyperscaler refine its infrastructure standards as its programs evolved.

In one example, we developed an alternative to traditional sheet metal blanking panels that were cumbersome for technicians to install and maintain. In another, we redesigned power distribution modules for a constrained facility after another supplier declined to modify its design, eliminating the need for field modifications and keeping the project on schedule. We also worked alongside the hyperscaler and design partners to refine structural systems that eventually evolved into one of their standard structures, which is now used across their third-party data center program.

As project schedules accelerated, we proactively planned production around anticipated project approvals, enabling infrastructure to begin shipping within weeks of final authorization. By ensuring critical structural systems were available when needed, we helped prevent delays that would have affected multiple downstream trades and project milestones.

Over time, these efforts transformed the relationship from a traditional supplier engagement into a strategic partnership. Today, we serve as the sole manufacturer and installer of the specific structure used in the hyperscaler's third-party data center and continue to support the hyperscaler across multiple campuses, programs and deployment models.

What began as support for containment solutions evolved into a long-term partnership built on engineering collaboration, responsiveness and continuous improvement. By anticipating challenges, adapting designs and planning ahead of rapidly changing deployment requirements, we helped Hyperscaler No. 2 improve infrastructure performance and execute increasingly complex data center programs at scale.
